When is literacy week 2018

It remains a much beloved ISB tradition that continues to improve and evolve year after year. Everyone had clearly worked so hard on it, and it showed. The gym looked amazing, and the vendors were friendly and had great books on display for all ages.

Our daughter had fun in the kids' room, while upstairs we browsed books, chatted, and drank wine. A real win-win! The Booklets Help to Kick Off the Literacy Week Festivities The Booklets, our Middle School library book club, turned the drawings of French Pre-K 3 Aide and talented published illustrator Lara Vallance into shiny buttons to share with classes and shoppers at the book fair and to promote the celebration of literacy.

This year, many more students were aware of and enjoying Literacy Week, and that has made me feel like I am doing something that is actually successful. I am really pleased with how the Booklets and the ISB Community were able to contribute to make Literacy Week one of our best ones yet!

Mystery Readers The celebrations that make Literacy Week special continued throughout the week. Reading Chain Throughout the week, students in every grade made links to connect together into a gigantic, colorful, paper reading chain. Scavenger Hunt Throughout the week, classes worked together on a scavenger hunt to figure out the favorite childhood books of ISB staff members. One of our first activities was when the children dropped everything and read for pleasure.

The acronym for this strategy is called D. It really showed that books are timeless and can be read anywhere and at any time. As an additional motivator, books were put on display in the hallway for purchasing for a couple of weeks. This was a way for the children to buy books for their home libraries and to explore new genre. In turn, the occasion also helped our school to spread literacy and to expand our existing library book collection with the collected monies.

Inter-class reading marked this Literacy Week in October event too when different classes read with each other. Hilary Dysart, Ms. Sarah Brandt, Ms. Katie DeSantis, Ms. Kelly Chong, and Ms. Amber Stice for organizing an amazing Literacy Week.

The hard work and collaboration on all the events and projects paid off. The smiles, cheers, and laughter of the students were priceless. We cannot wait for what is in store for next year! Follow us on Twitter My Tweets. Literacy Week By Allen Lee. May 22, Elementary School Eagles.
