In part 1, there are subtitles saying how many days left until Y Day. It seems to somehow signify the invasion of Poland. I cannot find any info anywhere about it. Does anyone know where I can read about the meaning of Y Day and why it was called that?
I checked the site and it was just a chronological of events. Didn't see a mention of Y Day. Since Winds of War is a novel, maybe it was an invention of the writer.

Hitler sets Y-day for 26 August. Yes, blueheron, it is just a choronological of events. Hitler anticipated invading Poland on the 26th but it turned out that it happend on Sept. This was a tougie to find.. But it's real. I well remember September 1 - it certainly changed everything forever! I just didn't know it was designated "Y Day". It changed the lives of almost everyone in the world. I was living with my aunt and uncle at the time.

Even though I had only just started the fourth grade, I knew that something was very wrong when a strong country could just send troops into a weaker one. I remember looking a a globe and thinking that Russia was such a big country and Poland was sooooo small. What chance did they have against a power like Germany and Russia united! Of course, Russia soon found out what Hitler had in mind in taking over Poland. Russia invaded Poland on Sept. I remembered the term "tincan", but never Y-Day.
Found out it was referring to the trumped up reason Hitler gave for invasion, citing 24 "incidents" along Polsh border. In actuality, the incidents were planned and carried out solely by Germans. The "tincans" were kidnapped Poles held until they were supposedly killed at the border, but in reality were poisoned then shot so their bodies would "prove" the incident happened.
